"Boomerang Lou" says hello everyone!

The 4-year-old Thoroughbred ended up at a Central California auction alongside Rogue Victory, Avada Kedava, and Storm Crash, earlier this month. We were able to secure the rescue of all Thoroughbred's on site, after identifying them, including Lou!

Lou's spent the past two weeks at our ranch, but yesterday, he finally headed to EquineRacers - Rehoming Racehorses in Southern California, to begin his retraining.

Lou last raced March 2013 at Los Alamitos and, since then, ended up as a charro horse. He bears numerous scars testifying to this, but despite this, he still remains a mild-mannered baby. And what a gorgeous mover! Can't wait to see what new career he moves onto.

If interested in adopting Boomerang Lou, please contact Equine Racers at http://www.facebook.com/pages/EquineRacers-Rehoming-Racehorses-in-Southern-California/

Our 3-year-old, 14.2 hh Arabian gelding is almost done with 3-months of professional training with trainer Joel Sheridan.

Romeo came to us as an unbroke colt, rescued at auction for a mere $25. He's now a gelding with 90-days professional training, ready to find his forever home!

This rose grey beauty does not have papers, but is sound, flashy, and personable. Would make a great pleasure, trail, or endurance prospect.

The Standardbreds from Cowtown Auction have been delivered safely to their foster in Riverside, CA, and have been identified.

Hip 12, the 16.2 hh gelding, is "Flop Turn River," a 2007 Cal-bred pacer by Hi Ho Silverheel's and out of Princess Liz (by Broadway Express).

Hip 11, the 15.3 hh mare, is "Pay Or Stay," a 2007 BC-bred pacer by Power Of Art and out of Schwing (by No Nukes).

Both ended up at auction together, Saturday night. We're unsure if they raced, or why and how they ended up there.

If anyone can help us piece together their history, please email auctionhorsesrescue@gmail.com

A long auction night is over, and Hip 11 and Hip 12 were able to leave with us. The two young racing Standardbred's somehow managed to make their way to auction, together, and for a sad $60 and $120 respectively, we paid their way to safety.

Up next, they will be heading to Southern California, where their assessment will begin, their identities hopefully located, and adoptive homes found.

If you would like to donate toward our latest auction rescues, please do so athttp://www.auctionhorsesrescue.com/donate.html

If interested in adding a Standardbred to your family, please fill out our application on our website.

"Fan T.C.," a 17-year-old daughter of Strike Gold (sire of another AHR rescue, Monterey Gold) was rescued at auction earlier this month, for a mere $50. The Thoroughbred mare was underweight with legs that had clearly seen a lifetime of work. We rescued her, took her home, and are excited to announce -- this old gal has been adopted!

Fan T.C. will be joining fellow AHR, elder-OTTB rescue Regal Sal, also recently adopted, by the same lovely home. Thank you, Meghan W., for opening your arms to our favorites -- the golden oldies!

Seattle Souvenir

"Seattle Souvenir," the Thoroughbred stallion who found himself at Mike's Auction Saturday night, was rescued later that night off the slaughter truck, after failing to receive even a single rescue bid.

Thanks to Farralone Farms and After the Finish Line, Seattle Souvenir was saved off that truck, and since then, has already made the transformation from stallion to gelding!

Dr Sullivan of West Coast Equine Hospital also diagnosed the teenaged Thoroughbred with a very common ailment in his breed -- pedal osteitis. Nothing quality shoeing (with pads) can't fix, combined with time and careful conditioning.

Seattle Souvenir, now named "Underdog," will be available for adoption, once his rehab is complete!

"Kallieflower" has been rescued, thanks to Anita Dayton and Hope For Horses!

The Thoroughbred mare was found in poor condition in Central California, with severe proud flesh wounds needing immediate attention. Huge thank you to Hope For Horses for making her rescue possible.

Hope For Horses will also be taking on recent AHR auction rescue "Avada Kedava" into their program.

Looking forward to updates as Kallieflower "blossoms"!

"BOSTON BAKED BEAN" UPDATE:

Guess who's been adopted?

After rescuing BBB from auction in October, and subsequently raising funds to send him to beautiful Hallmarc LLC in Kentucky for his rehab, he's found his forever home -- with eventer Rachel. And yes, Bean passed vet with flying colors!

Up next, Boston Baked Bean will begin training with Grand Prix, silver medallist Emily Collier, before starting his career as a show horse! And Hallmarc LLC will continue to sponsor him through it all.

For a horse dumped at auction, less than 24 hours after a dismal race, stressed and mid-colic, our boy is living quite the life now.

Congratulations, Rachel and Boston Baked Bean!

Giovanna is a 15.2 hh, 12 year old chestnut QH mare with a flaxen tail and mane.

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION:

Giovanna is a 15.2 hh, 12 year old chestnut QH mare with a flaxen tail and mane. We rescued her this spring at an auction where she and her 2 yr old colt sold alongside pigs and ducks. This girl loves other horses and absolutely loves the trails. She is a joy to ride and her happy demeanor on the trail is wonderfully contagious. She came to us with a host of unaddressed health issues that we took care of for her and she is a healthy girl today.
She has some minor lingering trust issues, no doubt from abuse she suffered by the charros who dropped her at auction, but has made enormous improvement the past few months. We use caution around her hind end. However she does not pin her ears or bites and always comes over for a pet or scratch and to see if you have any treats.
If the major improvements she has made in just a few short months are anything to go by, she will continue to get better and better.

If interested in adopting Giovanna, please fill out our application
