Thanks to our sleuthing, AHR tracked her down in the nick of time, and with the help of EA Ranches -- here she is today. Enjoying the retirement a Queen like her should have had, all along.

![]() "Blonde Fever," two weeks after AHR rescued her, emaciated, swaybacked, with a deep, untreated uterine infection. Now, enjoying new found health in her retirement at EA Ranches. Blonde Fever was a Thoroughbred racehorse, stakes winner, and matriarch producing earnings altogether of $2.5 million through her countless progeny. Blonde Bounty and Jessakar, two more AHR rescues, among them. ![]() Poor Mr. "Tony the Pony" has been having a number of medical troubles lately we've been trying to resolve. Some edema in his belly and chest, face and throat latch, along with a crusty, itchy muzzle leads Dr. Rathbone at Byerly Vet to think a possible allergy issue, but to be sure there isn't something deeper going on, blood was drawn today. Tony had to have his teeth re-floated last month, and it was decided he's likely in his late 20s. So, Mr. Tony is looking for a retirement/hospice home to live out his remaining days, pending approval from the vet. Otherwise, Tony is a very easy-going pony, very grateful for any kindness given to him. If you can help us with Tony's vet bills, please donate through our website www.auctionhorsesrescue.com or through our Paypal [email protected]. ![]() NEEDS URGENT RESCUE: This tattooed bay Thoroughbred mare came into West Valley Animal Control as a stray in the Sylmar area on November 5. Still has faint English saddle marks, though with neglected feet. Guess of age is around 15, perhaps late teens. Tattoo so far unsuccessfully read -- can't make out more than ??670?. Mare is hoof sore and needs proper farrier care. The pound is full, so she is at risk of euthanasia at any time. We also are always concerned these horses are adopted by people willing and able to address their needs -- this mare needs immediate farrier and vet. Overall seems healthy, but undiagnosed hoof issues. If interested in rescuing this mare, please call West Valley Animal Control at 888-452-7381. Located in Chatsworth, CA. ![]() "Pretty Socks," a registered half-Arabian mare, was rescued by AHR in May at a livestock auction. On an impulse, we rescued her, and three months later, she was adopted by Angela. Here's "Lilly," Pretty Socks new name, clearing a jump today with Angela's student in the saddle. From being barely broke to this in a few months, clearly Lilly is loving her new job -- as a jumper! Another rescued mare, doing great in her second career. From unwanted horse headed to slaughter, to beloved pet! "Merry," one of the 8 ex-camp horses we rescued in September, was adopted this week by Rosemary!11/23/2013 ![]() "Merry," one of the 8 ex-camp horses we rescued in September, was adopted this week by Rosemary! Rosemary became aware of our rescue after we found "Wetaskiwin," a Thoroughbred racehorse she had bred, at a livestock auction. She took him back to be retired at her ranch, then fell in love with this 25-year-old Standardbred mare we had up for adoption. Kaarin and her family fostered her since day 1, and were sad to see her go, but were thrilled to see her go to such a lovely home. And thank you Chuck Erb Horse Transportation for getting her there! Merry will live out her days as Rosemary's personal trail horse, in the San Diego area, and will then be retired alongside Wetaskiwin. Thank you Rosemary, Kaarin and her family, Shannon who originally helped rescue her by covering bail (extra thank you!!), and congratulations to Merry. Yet another lucky old gal! ![]() Emaciated "Chiron" has arrived at his foster in Saugus, after a few days at the hospital to make sure he was stable, with no signs of colic. But other than some hind leg swelling, so far so good. Chiron has a passion for....alfalfa pellets. So we're allowing him to indulge in them. A little bit of Safe Choice "Special Care" to get him started with supplemental vitamins and amino acids, as well. He seems a kind, gentle horse that likes to follow people around, like he appreciates our company. Knots on either side of his neck appear to be scarring from ample injections given to him in the past. Perhaps used for match racing before his days as a dancing horse? Welcome home, Chiron! ![]() Emaciated mare and baby update from Rosamond! Follower Megan was able to rescue the two from their owner, who had expressed to us interest in selling them to slaughter. The two are doing well, now that they're in proper shelter, fed well, and finally receiving farrier care. Thank you Megan for being there for these two in need! Congratulations to "Hope" and "Bolt"! |
