Eclipse was rescued one year ago, found emaciated in the desert at a BCS of 1. His owners were prosecuted afterward. This 9-year-old Thoroughbred ex-racehorse has been through so much. In the end, he's gone from rags to riches.
Our handsome, banner-photo favorite will spend a few weeks there, while he is evaluated to see if he fits their training program. Fingers crossed!

The grey mare and the Andalusian cross, rescued off the lot this morning, are settling in beautifully at Ventura Farms. The two will be looked at today by their in-house vet, feet issues immediately addressed by their farrier, and then left for an extended period of rest through their quarantine period. The two horses seem extremely grateful, and their entire countenance changed as soon as they stepped foot on the 1,300 acre property of peace and tranquility. A huge step up in life....it doesn't get better than this. More photos to be posted, from their welcoming" to Ventura Farms. Here's "Regal Sal," in his former days as a loved kid's horse. Known as "Pilot," the 22-year- old Thoroughbred was since rescued from auction last Saturday night, by AHR. His most recent owner lied, claiming he had passed away three months ago... Instead, we found him at auction, still very much alive. Pilot is doing well at short term foster Travis's ranch in Central California. This weekend, Connie will take him down to San Diego, where he will be offered for adoption. Anyone looking for a kid's horse -- Pilot is your guy. If interested in adopting "Pilot," aka "Regal Sal," please fill out our application Eclipse and Chiron, both bear a striking resemblance in their "day 1" intake photos. Eclipse is now a very healthy, round and 100% performance sound adoptable. We look forward, with prayers, that Chiron can make the same remarkable progress. The act of rescue isn't about what horse can be flipped the fastest, because then it just becomes about acquiring the nice sales horses-prospects and stamping the word "rescue" on it. It takes work. Work with animals who have no hope but for the sake of your arrival. The real question is, will they have a quality of life? Eclipse, a year later, has it in spades. He's feisty, adores people, and is a willing partner under saddle. Chiron, after living the life of a starved "dancing horse," deserves the same transformation. If you would like to donate toward Chiron's rehabilitation and care, please do so through our websitewww.auctionhorsesrescue.com Donations direct to our feed store are also welcome - they are Fox Feed of Canyon Country, and can be reached by phone (661) 252-9790 This tattooed 6-year-old Thoroughbred gelding is at the Devore Animal Shelter in San Bernardino, suffering from severe laminitis. In our opinion, he needs to be in a hospital setting immediately. Auction Horses Rescue placed a bid on him, seeing how ill he was, and we will be finding out tomorrow if we're acquiring yet another rescue. If we don't, praying whoever he ends up with will be able to care for what looks like to be very advanced laminitis. Two horses are being saved tomorrow!!! We are able to rescue the two horses on the lot! The Andalusian/Thoroughbred cross will be going to his forever home, and the Appendix Quarter Horse mare [pictured] will be fostered for AHR. What we need is to be able to pay bail for her tomorrow, so need to raise $250 to do so. If you can help us reach our $250 goal to get this OTQH mare to safety, please donate via our website please mark the donation for "Gray Mare". www.auctionhorsesrescue.com Here's Eclipse and his remarkable transformation he has made, after he was also rescued at a BCS of 1. And, in fact, was even more skeletal than Chiron is today. Eclipse has come to be our healthiest, soundest, fanciest rescue (and happiest!). His upbeat, plucky character is likely why he was able to pull through such extreme criminal neglect and abuse. And...Eclipse is now available for adoption Still, it was not "cheap" to rehabilitate Eclipse and bring him to such overwhelming health. We're bracing for the same with Chiron. Donations toward Chiron's rehabilitation can be made through our website, www.auctionhorsesrescue.com or through our feed store, Fox Feed of Canyon Country at (661) 252-9790 It's been a hectic day, but we wanted everyone to know our new puppy is doing well, too! Little orphan "Annie" went to the vet first this morning. She's between 5-6 months old, German Shepherd puppy, and now fully vaccinated and wormed. The vet opted not to spay her as she's still 20 lbs underweight! Auction Horses Rescue, currently, has become a very active operation with only 3 people behind the curtain. We've become a bit overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and attention for both Annie and Chiron, but we are very much focused on finding Annie the best fit for permanent placement. This meant, today, we've been piecing together a last minute "dog adoption application" to get out to everyone.http://www.auctionhorsesrescue.com/puppy-adoption-application.html Today's "intake photos". "Chiron," as we've decided to call him, is a Body Condition Score of 1... There isn't any lower you can go, before organ damage and death will result. As it is, Chiron, though seemingly grateful, still appears listless, it will take some time before the life comes back to his eyes. Sooner than later, we hope. But only time will tell, along with timely, proactive treatment. Our greatest concern is being able to afford his long term rehabilitation, treatment, gelding, and hopefully, retraining. But the swelling in his knees concern us, as well. If you can help us with funds to rehabilitate Chiron, please donate through our website at www.auctionhorsesrescue.com To contribute directly toward his feed bill, please call Fox Feed of Canyon Country at (661) 252-9790 Thank you so much to Elayne Tingey for paying off Chiron's vet bill so far -- it is greatly appreciated!! |
