This was "Aries," as we now call her, once she arrived at West Coast Equine Hospital last night.
The hundreds of miles we had to drive, along with the two other mares we had to secure the safety of, meant an exhausting day. But once Aries was under expert veterinary supervision, we could finally go home and rest.
Today, we're awaiting word on the extent of her injury. So far, her wounds have been debrided, treated, and wrapped, pain medication given, and antibiotics administered. She's such a kind mare.
Her prior owner states her registered name with the Jockey Club is something like "Mrs Black," and 12 years old (which fits her teeth), but extensive searches of variants in equineline's database has revealed nothing.
Whoever she is, we hope and pray she's on the road to recovery now.
