Lots of our adoptable horses have had visitors lately, Romeo included!

Deanna and her family came out to Joel Sheridan's facility yesterday, to meet Romeo in person, and watch a training session. Romeo has almost completed 90-days professional training, starting from the ground up!

Hoping our little 3-year-old Arabian boy finds a home soon, along with Ladybug, Emily, Boo, and our many others healthy, happy, and ready to go!

If interested in adopting one of our available horses, please go to http://www.auctionhorsesrescue.com/ for a current list.

"The Miller's Madam,"

19-year- old unraced Thoroughbred mare "The Miller's Madam," is a gorgeous grey mare by the French stallion "The Miller" and out of Kampalita (by Nostalgia's Star). Her current owner is planning to take her to auction on Monday, since despite her lovely manners on the ground, has proved to be too dangerous to ride under saddle (bolts, rears, even with numerous trainers).

Although it would be nice to think all horses issues can be trained away, reality does not always work out that way. Some horses can be completely sound physically, but still only suitable to be a companion. Buyer beware, and people's safety comes first.

Regardless, this mare needs to be rescued, and based on the description -- as a companion only.

"Ernesto" (JC: Bruddah Eugene) is an 11 yr old, 16.3 hh OTTB gelding. In nature and body-type he more resembles a warmblood! Ernesto ties, clips, trailers and stands for the farrier. He does not spook, is very smart and kind. 100% Sound. Awesome hunter/dressage prospect. Confident beginner can ride him.

"Ruby" was one of the abandoned broodmares we rescued at auction late last year. Although we tried in vain to identify her by tattoo, with a couple of strong possibilities, in the end we've resigned ourselves to accepting Ruby is just an awesome teenage mare, with a great head on her shoulders, so much so she's started to become a kid's horse!

Just last weekend, Ruby participated in a SCA "joust" with 14-year-old Michelle Andrew aboard, and nothing phased the mare!

Ruby's favorite gaits are "mosey" and "mosey a little faster," she's good on trail, likes dogs, and is generally a very pleasant girl to be around. She's still refining her understanding of things like "whoa," so we're not quite yet comfortable saying she's safe for a beginner yet, but almost!

Ruby is looking for a pleasure or family home, to be a solid citizen in.

Ruby is located in Sylmar, CA.

River

"River," (2007 Standardbred gelding Flop Turn River), had a riding assessment this weekend courtesy of Jesse Felix of Felix Performance Horses.

River was a dream! Even with mounted shooting going on the next ring over, this boy didn't look twice. He's still learning leg cues, but other than needing a proper education, has sailed past the issues most green broke horses still have to work through. Absolutely no reactiveness, no spook.

And at a sturdy 16.2 hh, he has the size larger riders are often looking for, but can be hard to come by.

River is located in Riverside, CA.

"Vinny" is an 8 yo, 12 hh donkey, rescued from Mike's Auction this month as a jack. Poor Vinny was gelded at the same time as Seattle Souvenir, and both are healing beautifully, making Vinny ready to start looking for his new home!

Vinny is a gentleman, easy to work with on the ground, and is even broke to ride! Ties, clips, trailers -- all the good stuff.

If interested in adopting Vinny, please fill out our application

Pay or Stay

"Pay Or Stay," the 2007 Standardbred mare by Power Of Art, was rescued last week alongside Flop Turn River. However, in this sweet mare's case, she came to us in decidedly worse shape than the gelding.

Today, she went to Winner's Circle Equine Clinic, where Dr. Beck examined the swollen knee she came to us with. To our surprise and relief, on x-ray, her legs were totally clean! Dr. Beck diagnosed it as merely being some fluid build-up in the knee, from her overgrown hoof striking it -- a condition known as "knee knocking," in Standardbred circles.

Now that her hooves have been trimmed, all that's needed is a few days of wrapping with poultice, to bring her back in order.

Otherwise, the mare is totally sound and healthy, and will be up for adoption soon!

"Jessica" is a coming 2-year-old Appendix Quarter Horse, rescued back in 2012 as an emaciated 6-month-old filly, with dam "Go Little Flurt" by her side. They had originally sold at auction to a "private buyer," then returned a few months back, as walking skeletons. Thanks to foster Andrea, we were able to rescue them out of the "auction circuit," once and for all.

Jessica is out of Dash For Cash mare "Go Little Flurt," and is by the stakes-winning Thoroughbred "Silver Ray," although she is unregistered.

Jessica is halter broke only at this time, and is ready to begin groundwork.

If interested in adopting Jessica, please fill out our application
