"Pay Or Stay," the 2007 Standardbred mare by Power Of Art, was rescued last week alongside Flop Turn River. However, in this sweet mare's case, she came to us in decidedly worse shape than the gelding.
Today, she went to Winner's Circle Equine Clinic, where Dr. Beck examined the swollen knee she came to us with. To our surprise and relief, on x-ray, her legs were totally clean! Dr. Beck diagnosed it as merely being some fluid build-up in the knee, from her overgrown hoof striking it -- a condition known as "knee knocking," in Standardbred circles.
Now that her hooves have been trimmed, all that's needed is a few days of wrapping with poultice, to bring her back in order.
Otherwise, the mare is totally sound and healthy, and will be up for adoption soon!
