We are 156 likes away from reaching 16,000 fans! We would love to reach that milestone before 2014 -- that leaves only a little more than 24 hours to go!
In this day and age of rescues on Facebook, often large funds of these charity's financial resources are devoted to pumping up these numbers. We're proud to say our support is organic, and not "paid for." We'd like to continue that streak! Please share our page with your friends, and show your support for Auction Horses Rescue! Thank you so much! "Before" and "After," in motion: "Cool Shades" was one of our feed lot rescues this summer. The 23-year-old emaciated mare, with a huge hanging broodmare belly, filled with worms and sand, her owners dropped her off stating they had "forgotten to feed her." Pictured is Cool Shades, the day we rescued her. Well, along with a rescued recipient mare, Cool Shades spent the summer and fall at Barb's facility in Atascadero, til we were able to find the mare permanent placement -- at Vanessa's beautiful ranch in New Mexico, alongside the adorable pony Lucy, another once-emaciated save. Vanessa sent us this adorable video, with text attached. She states: "Cool Shades and Lucy graduated out of the quarantine barn and at first I was very nervous for her (Cool Shades) running so hard, I was afraid her heart couldn't take it but the more I watched her the more I was thinking, run girl run, if her heart gave out it gave out with a full belly and a happy loved horse. She was so beautiful running! Her old knee got a bit tired and sore, we gave her some bute to help after. She is living the life, and loving it." Thank you Vanessa for giving a forever home to such two lovely companions. Horses have so much to give, and life left to live, even when their days of heavy riding are behind them! Here's Cool Shades, running with joy, likely for the first time in decades: Guess who also got to meet Santa this year? Diamante Rial! The 17-year-old Thoroughbred, now named "Monte" by his new family, was rescued from a livestock auction this summer, where the only other buyers were for slaughter, charro or match racing. Monte proved to be an awesome kids horse (yes, a Thoroughbred!), so this fall, Matthew and his family adopted him as their "first horse." Santa meeting included. Monte's sister "Bye Bye Boo Boo" is still up for adoption -- anyone seeking an awesome 17-year-old Thoroughbred mare for the family, Boo would love to join you! Since Christmas isn't technically quite over, we'll squeeze one more post in: This came from Val, who adopted a young Australian Cattle Dog out of Lancaster Animal Control, we were desperately trying to network, at the beginning of the year. Now named "Buck," he has become the golden child of the family. Val says, "Merry Christmas Megan!!! Thank you for making it possible for so many horses and other animals to have another Xmas!!" Thank you, Val! Here's to a successful 2014, of many more lives saved! Now, back to work! And a Merry Christmas from "Tribal Legend" and adopter Danielle! The 4-year-old Thoroughbred was rescued outside an auction in September, still a colt, with a double fracture to his knee (making him permanently "gimpy" at the trot). Now a gelding, TL has found a new life as beloved pet and "walking trail horse"! Christmas wishes from three lucky horses we are grateful for SLAP Equine Rescue for taking and rehabilitating, after we found them needing rescue, earlier this year. Minnie was one of the Yucca Valley 6 in October, and French Fry and Jelly Bean were two of the eight abandoned camp horses in September. Now in December , spreading Christmas cheer -- and looking for their forever homes! Not to be outdone by a S.L.A.P. happy Christmas hammy, French Fry, Jelly Bean and even Minnie decided to get in the Christmas spirit! "Little" Clubhouse Rules getting ready for her Christmas Eve ride, all 16.2 hh of her. Clubhouse would like to remind everyone she's still looking for her forever family! Please fill out our application athttp://www.auctionhorsesrescue.com/ if interested in Clubhouse, or one of our many other adoptables. ADOPTED! Two lucky auction rescues found their forever homes, just last week! Janie, an abused 2-year-old Quarter Horse filly, and "OMA Ginger" (originally identified as OMA Constance), a beautiful bay Arabian mare with unique lacing. Both went to their new home together, making their sisterhood official! Please take a look at http://www.auctionhorsesrescue.com/ for many of our horses currently available for adoption. |
