Mr. Buckminster had a thorough exam today at West Coast Equine Hospital, with Dr. Kemper reporting good news! Though as of this morning he had bounding pulses in both front feet, there were no other signs of laminitis. On X-ray, even his navicular bone -- an area particularly problem-prone for Quarter Horses -- looked good!
At this stage, Dr. Kemper believes the extreme soreness in his feet is due to severe thrush. Bucky will spend the next few days at the hospital for observation, as they begin work on bringing his long feet -- and thrush -- into a more stable state. Our concern at this stage is that laminitis doesn't begin to set in, which is still a concerning possibility.
