"Charlie" is a 23 year old Thoroughbred mare, rescued from Mike's Auction in early 2013. She is a lovely and pretty girl who gets along well with other horses. We think she was used as a broodmare for many years and dumped when she could no longer produce any babies. She was diagnosed with arthritis in her neck and as such cannot be ridden. Charlie will make a great companion or make your dream come true of retiring a well-deserving horse.
Horses like Charlie -- the abandoned broodmares -- need rescue most of all, but are routinely overlooked for the adorable pony demographic. A demographic that though can certainly benefit from an upgrade in life, do not suffer the high-risk of shipping to slaughter like the "old bay mares."
