It's been a tough year for Tony. A good one for this neglected pony, too -- what with being rescued! But bringing him back to health has been tough work.
After switching Tony onto Prascend, medication for Cushing'sDisease in horses, it seems his immune system is finally kicking in.
Not before blowing a gruesome abscess, above where his two rotted teeth were extracted a few weeks before. Daily iodine flushings to the site, removal of some additional dead tissue, and liberal doses of antibiotics, and....Tony is back on hay!
Thank you to Dr Rathbone and Dr Byerly of Byerly Vet, foster Shannon, and most of all Tony's foster "sister" Lena [pictured with Tony] for nursing him through this ordeal. It's awesome to see such a sweet old guy acting 110% himself!
