After a very long day of hard work at Saturday's auction, and a full Sunday ensuring all our rescues made it safely to their destinations, we finally have the time and energy for a few updates
Hip 153, the crippled Appendix gelding [pictured], came to auction with a radically enlarged left front, that someone had seemingly tried to chemically blister in the recent past (unsuccessfully). The gelding favored the leg more and more as the night wore on, almost certainly ensuring purchase to no one except the kill buyer.
After taking the risk on such a hopeless case, we are excited and relieved to find Terry has offered to give this sweet guy a retirement home. She has also offered a place for Hip 168, the discarded Thoroughbred broodmare "Mumu Mamoon." The two will lead a wonderful life in Northern California alongside prior AHR feedlot rescues, "Tell Me Why" and "Just Sophie."
Thank you Terry for providing a safe haven for these two. Without adopters like you, we would not be able to continue to step up for these many hopeless cases, we encounter again and again, week after week.
Last but not least, Thank you to April Smith for fostering him until transport can be arranged.
