"Dashing Lady Bug" had her first ride today, after having almost a month to rest her feet and eat lots of hay, pellets, beet pulp and rice bran, to fill in her protruding spine. Though her weight isn't quite 100% yet, she's ready to begin work!
Our guess with Lady Bug is, she seems like she came off a rental string or some type of "point and shoot" trail home, as she knows the basics of walk/trot/canter, but doesn't understand anything past that -- like "giving" to the bit. So that will be much of what we will work on with her. That, and not having to stress and worry the entire time we're on her -- that "what next" mentality is always sad to see in a horse.
Lady Bug has a beautiful, rocking canter and a nice, long trot. A nice quality off track-Quarter Horse we can't wait to find a forever home for.
