RIP, Autumn.

At 21-years-old, Autumn found herself being sold off as part of a ranch dispersal, just last week. 5 older horses all at once, needed homes. We were able to rescue Autumn, with her best friend, fellow older broodmare, Queenie Juanita. Coming to us with the name of "Gimpy," we gave her a much kinder name, and a week of love at foster Shannon's, while watching....hoping we could find some way to make her comfortable enough to last as a companion. But, even with pain management drugs, Autumn had a very difficult time getting around. By Sunday, exactly a week since her rescue, her hind end began to collapse under her. So, today, foster Shannon, her mom Cathy, and we at AHR, said goodbye, as the vets from Dr. Byerly's clinic came to give her a peaceful end.
Her best girlfriend, Queenie Juanita, is now off to her forever home in Loomis, her new mom aware she needs to be given time to mourn.
Autumn's registered name was "Kenosabis Widgeon," a 21-year-old registered Paint mare, by Kenosabi and out of Dollys Sho Girl (by Sho Gun EH). She had three foals, one shown on the APHA circuit as "Pardee Shocker," as well as"Deserts Tiger Patch," and "Whip Fancy."

And now, her story ends.

Run free, sweet Autumn.
