This 1999 OTTB and ex-broodmare is now safe and sound at West Coast Equine Hospital, awaiting her ride to Equine Racers' facility, where her rehabilitation will begin.
The "gentling" of the wild horse also rescued last night began this morning, with the arrival of Farralone Farms' trainer Felipe. For the next few weeks, the draft/paint x gelding will be allowed to decompress, as he observes the tranquility of the rescued horses around him.
Hip 513, the little mini mare, has been adopted by Nicole, and Hip 515, the pregnant mini, is also Farralone Farms' new project. Baby watch!
"Sierra Madam," the 9-year-old OTTB also rescued this weekend, is awaiting transport to her short term foster, Nathalie, after which she will come to AHR for her retraining. The gentle 15 hh mare seems like she'll make a lovely child's mount or pleasure prospect for a smaller adult. And with her clean legs, perhaps some polo or barrels in her future? We'll give her time to see what the little mare seems best suited for.
