This stocky boy is "Musgrove Cat," and we were surprised to find him when we went to 'inspect' Roark today. After Musgrove Cat was turned away from Mike's Auction in April, we knew another rescuer had made arrangements for him to go back to his owner. His original owner has since tried to ready him for racing again, without success. So now, the owner has asked for Musgrove to find a safe landing -- one where he will, hopefully, never find himself at auction again.
As can be seen, Musgrove has a defective left eye, that he has had since birth. He is at least track broke, though his handler says he can be nervous about objects on his left side when riding.
Still, a nicely formed, stocky boy, who otherwise appears healthy and sound.

Musgrove Cat is a 6-year-old OTTB gelding, by Saint Afleet and out of Lady Katy Did (Mt Livermore). Currently located in Redlands, CA

I have an interesting story about this horse from back in November 2010 during one of his races. Is he still in Redlands? How is he doing, well I hope.
It was breeders cup day, Nov 6th, 2010. The BC Classic had just finished. I was at the offtrack Turf Club in Lancaster Ca. I was getting ready to leave and I noticed in the ticker on the TV screen that Musgrove Cat had been scratched from the next race, at Santa Anita, I think, maybe Hollywood Pk. It was about 3:30 pm. I got home about 4;30 pm and had devastating news that my nephew, RJ Musgrove had been killed in a tragic car accident. It was almost the same time of day as when that ticker came on screen about the scratch. Spooky, yes. But, I think it is some kind of message about the cycle of life. RJ will always be my Musgrove Cat! just thought I would share. Please let me know how the horse is doing. Thanks
