When there's an animal in need, even if we're on-site with the intention of only scouting for horses to rescue, we'll always try to help the non-equids, too. Peggy Sue was no exception. The supposedly 6-month-old heifer...that we first guessed was 3 months, is instead likely still only 2-months old. The little calf still requires milk! So...we're on baby milk duty again! Not since Mia has the joy of bratty babies demanding their milk been a part of our lives...why not a bovine be the recipient, for a change? Peggy Sue is a love, and long-term 'hospice' rescue "Cardiac", a 23-year-old Thoroughbred saved from slaughter, can be seen joyfully trotting up to the calf whenever she comes near.
