"Warren's Doogood," a 7-year-old granddaughter of Storm Cat, was rescued this summer by AHR, after selling at auction to the slaughter buyer. The former racehorse and "good trail horse" (per her Craigslist ad, at the time of dumping) was soon found to have a lingering abscess in her front hoof, that on x-ray showed signs of beginning to eat into her coffin bone.
Several months of antibiotics, wrapping, and then a transition onto a very soft paddock, her progress has been steady and positive. And today, Doogood -- now "Sweetie" -- got her first pair of shoes!
Next up, Sweetie begins trot work, as we look to see if any lingering issues (if they remain) manifest themselves. Fingers crossed Sweetie will turn out to be fully recovered, so she can begin training. And soon, be available for adoption
