This morning, we found two more very needy equines in urgent need of rescue:
"Wetaskiwin," a 6-year-old Thoroughbred fresh off Los Alamitos racetrack, found himself at a livestock auction this morning. Confused but compliant, the large, well-groomed racehorse sold alongside goat, sheep and pigs with the grace of...well...a Thoroughbred. Thanks to the offer of Sarah Parlier of Equine Racers, we were able to rescue him for her organization.
Also on our rescue plate was a scraggly white donkey, a bit of spine protruding through her coat, with a suspiciously round belly... And yes, she's female.. Could she be pregnant? Photos of her will be posted tomorrow
Wetaskiwin will be available for adoption through Equine Racers shortly, and our white donkey will be available through Auction Horses Rescue.
