"Winter Wedgewood," a 9-year-old pinto Saddlebred mare, was brought to auction today. Respecting the policy of no photos and no specific information, as her owner requested, we worked on finding her a rescue home anyway. And found it. Thank you, Liz!

By the sire World Wide Web, and out of the mare Last Horizon (by Wing Shot), she had been originally purchased as a 2-year-old for $11,000, put into dressage training, then developed string halt. Her subsequent owner decided she was too much horse for her, and brought her to auction. Tonight, she was rescued for $225.

No matter how much a horse is worth at one point in their life, is no guarantee of future safety. Our entire weekend of auction rescues, has been jarring witness to this. From "Rogue Victory" to "Cuz Im Lopin Lexie" to "Winter Wedgewood," none were safe.

But now they are.

Also rescued tonight was Hip 61, older Thoroughbred mare "Fan T.C." The humble mare, with a curved in front leg and shaggy coat, was ours for a mere $50.

Total saved this weekend: 17 horses... 3-days of non-stop work: totally worth it.

Thank you all for your help, and have a wonderful night. Updates to follow.
